There are always transaction costs associated with the sale of Florida Property. One of the largest costs are documentary stamps owed on the deed transferring title. This is a fixed rate of $.70 per every $100.00 of the sales price. For example, if the sales price is $100,000.00, the documentary stamps are $700.00, to be paid upon recording to the State of Florida. Typically, the seller pays this expense, but this is ultimately negotiable between buyer and seller. Compared to other states, this charge is much higher, but we have no state income tax, so we have to pay our State’s operating bills somehow.
